Macabre

Want to play Macabre and join the Early Access journey? Here’s how.
We’re a small indie team from Australia, and after years of late nights and community support, Macabre is now out in Early Access on Steam. Everything so far has grown through word of mouth and viral posts, pushing us into the Top 50 most-played titles during Steam Next Fest and building a massive global audience.
Now we’re focused on improving the game every week – with new updates, gameplay tweaks, and surprises rolling out regularly. Whether you enjoy horror, co-op chaos, or experimental indie projects, this is the perfect time to jump in, explore, and share the journey with your audience.
Join the conversation on Discord. Share your videos in #🎥┃macabre-content where thousands of players are already talking about the game. Our community is active, supportive, and hungry for new content, so it is a great place to grow your audience and get instant feedback.
How to take part
You can start creating content right now. No embargo, no restrictions, just your honest experience.
- Play and share your experience. Explore the Rift, survive a few missions, and show your viewers what makes Macabre different.
- Cover new updates. We’re patching weekly with fresh improvements, features, and AI changes.
- React or review. Share your impressions, favourite moments, or chaotic fails – our community loves authentic reactions.
- Discuss the journey. Talk about how Macabre grew from Kickstarter to Early Access, or why small teams like ours matter in today’s industry.
- Use the hashtag #macabregame and tag our official channels so we can find, repost, and promote your work.
What you will get
- Early preview access starting next week (we will prioritise timely, original posts).
- Consideration for a full game key at launch on 26 September (priority goes to creators who share coverage).
- Signal boosts from our channels and an eager community already looking for Macabre content.
- Spotlight opportunities. Top posts may be featured on the official Steam page.
- Future collaborations. We are looking for awesome creators to partner with in the future.
About keys
We have a very limited number of Steam keys left, and can only issue one per creator at this stage.
If you’d like to cover Macabre, please request a key directly through Keymailer. Keys are prioritised for creators who share thoughtful, original coverage or have an active audience in horror, co-op, or indie gaming spaces.
If we’re unable to approve your request, you’re still encouraged to post impressions, trailer reactions, or use public footage. Every post genuinely helps a small team like ours continue improving and growing the game.

🔥 Join the first wave. Add your voice. Help lead the charge into the rift on 26 September.
Macabre is a high-stakes co-op extraction horror where stealth is survival and the Rift is never the same twice.
Maps shift, objectives change, and the monster adapts. Scavenge rare resources and fight the urge to panic as you stabilise each Rift before it collapses.
Survival isn’t guaranteed. Escape together or abandon your team to save yourself. Trust is fragile. Betrayal is easy.
One truth remains… It’s Macabre.

You will not be able to shoot your way out of this nightmare. Macabre is about stealth, cunning and wit. Stick together to survive, or betray your teammates to keep the loot for yourself.
Just remember, Macabre preys on those who stray from the pack.

Luckily, you meet a fellow Rift enthusiast named Banjo, an eccentric survivor who guides you with his knowledge and gear. He is your lifeline, offering equipment and upgrades that give you a fighting chance. Spend your resources wisely.

Macabre learns as you play. Rely on the same tricks and it will adapt. Each encounter forces you to improvise. Distractions, stuns and even sacrifices may be the only way out.

Every run is a gamble. To keep what you have scavenged, you must reach the Extract alive. If you die, you lose everything. The Rift does not forgive mistakes, and neither will your team. Greed, hesitation or betrayal can be just as deadly as the monster itself.

While avoiding Macabre, you will scavenge powerful artefacts and strange items from fractured timelines. Every piece of loot matters. The right equipment can reveal hidden truths, distract the monster or help you survive long enough to escape.

No two runs are ever the same. Each Rift reconfigures itself with randomised layouts, shifting objectives and unpredictable monster behaviour. You will never feel safe, no matter how many times you enter.

Macabre is a co-op survival horror game from Sydney-based Weforge Studio, an indie team with a passion for horror and multiplayer gaming. Our aim is to deliver one of the most immersive multiplayer horror experiences on Steam. Early Access marks the first step. Revenue from sales will be reinvested into continued development, and we plan to expand the game with new maps, monsters, puzzles and chapters as development progresses, guided by player feedback.
Macabre’s design is shaped by years of gaming experience. The adaptive AI channels the tension of Alien: Isolation. The extraction style risk and reward loop reflects the intensity of Hunt: Showdown and Escape from Tarkov. The social dynamics of trust, betrayal and chaotic teamwork take cues from DayZ, Phasmophobia and Dread Hunger.
At its heart, Macabre is about people. In-game VOIP creates unpredictable alliances, rivalries and betrayals. Just like our co-founders Jay and Jake, who first met through voice chat in DayZ, we want those connections to feel real.
